YL Boys Guidelines
- YL - 11 v 11 (10 field players + goal keeper)
- Game lengths: 2 x 40 min halves with a 10 minute break / Size 5 ball
- Pitch size: Full FIFA pitch and goals
- PROPER FIFA RULES APPLY. Interchange is possible at any time but referee must be notified. Substitute players must wear a bib.
- REFEREE ASSISTANTS (previously linesmen): each team must provide a referee assistant equipped with a FIFA-standard flag and a fluorescent-orange bib.
- REFEREE AND MATCHBALL: First mentioned team is to provide the referee and the matchball. If clubs do not supply referees a $50.00 fine may apply
- MATCHCARDS: First mentioned team supplies the matchcard and ensures that the matchcard is correctly deposited in the card collection box.
- MARK OF RESPECT: It is compulsory for teams to show appropriate marks of respect to opposition players, coaches and officials. Before the game starts, both teams walk onto the field in parallel lines, then shake hands with the referee, referee assistant and opposition players.
- In acknowledgement of healthy sporting practices, it is appreciated if spectators refrain from smoking on or near the sporting fields.
U14s Guidelines

U12s Guidelines
The Under 12 league will play under FIFA Laws to assist players and coaches to the transition to 11v11 football and rules. The Under 12 league will not have a league table, but will be included in the Cup competition during the season.
Introduction
The 9-a side game in Under 12’s allows players to be challenged technically as well as physically through multiple repeated actions in smaller areas. It also aims to set realistic expectations that meet the needs of young footballers, rather than senior players. It focuses on the development of a player rather than the result of the match.
- Format - 9 v 9 (8 field players + goalkeeper)
- Game lengths: 2 x 25 min halves with a 5 minute break / Size 4 ball Pitch size: Length: 60m - 70m Width: 40m x 50m / Goals: 2 x 5 m
- EQUIPMENT AND REFEREE ASSISTANTS (previously linesmen): each team must provide a referee assistant equipped with a FIFA-standard flag and a fluorescent-orange bib.
- As a mark of respect, players are asked to shake hands with opposition players and officials before and after the game.
- GOALS AND EQUIPMENT: The home team is to supply goals and the match ball.
- INSTRUCTING REFEREE: Instructing referee must be 2 years older than players. They must guide and encourage the players throughout the game on the pitch.
- Offside rule: The offside rule will be included in the Under 12 league as it is an integral rule to the game of football. 9v9 on the recommended size pitch will help players learn the rule as there is no longer as much space between the halfway line and the opposition goals.
- Penalties: In accordance with FIFA LOTG, a penalty kick will be awarded if a player commits a direct free kick offence inside their penalty area.
- Goalkeeper: The goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball anywhere in the penalty area. To restart play after a, save or gathering the ball with their hands, the ball must be thrown or rolled from the hands or played from the ground with their feet, within 6 seconds. The goalkeeper is not allowed to kick or dropkick the ball from their hands.
- Goal kick: Goal kicks can be taken from anywhere within the penalty area. Opponents must be outside the penalty area until the ball is in play. The ball is in play once it is kicked and clearly moves. Players from the defending team may receive the ball inside the penalty area from a goal kick.
- Throw ins: Player faces the field of play, has part of each foot on the ground either on or behind the touch line, uses both hands and delivers the ball from behind and over their head. The thrower must not touch the ball again until it has touched another player. The ball is in play once it enters the field of play. A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in.
- Corner kicks: Opponents must be at least 5 metres away from the ball until it is in play. The ball is in play when it is kicked and moves.
U10S and U11S Guidelines
- Format - 9 v 9 (8 field players + goal keeper)
- Game lengths: 2 x 25 min halves with a 5 minute break / Size 4 ball
- Pitch size: Length: 60m - 70m Width: 40m x 50m / Goals: 2 x 5 m
- MINIROOS GAMES RULES APPLY. There is no league table. Results are not recorded.
- The focus of the MINIROOS Games is participation.
- As a mark of respect, players are asked to shake hands with opposition players and officials before and after the game.
- GOALS AND EQUIPMENT: The home team is to supply goals and the match ball.
- INSTRUCTING REFEREE: Instructing referee must be 2 years older than players. They must guide and encourage the players throughout the game on the pitch.
- No match cards are needed.
U8S and U9S Guidelines
- Format - 7 v 7 (6 field players + goal keeper)
- Game lengths: 2 x 20 min games with a 5 minute break / Size 3 ball
- Pitchsize:30x40m/Goals:2.5x3m
- MINIROOS GAMES RULES APPLY. There is no league table. Results are not recorded.
- The focus of the MINIROOS Games is participation.
- As a mark of respect, players are asked to shake hands with opposition players and officials before and after the game.
- GOALS AND EQUIPMENT: The home team is to supply goals and the match ball.
- INSTRUCTING REFEREE: Instructing referee must be 2 years older than players. They must guide and encourage the players throughout the game on the pitch.
- No match cards are needed.
U6S and U7S Guidelines
- 4 v 4 (4 players) on two pitches
- Game lengths: 2 x 15 min games with a 5 minute break / Size 3 ball
- Pitch size: 20 x 30 m / Goals: pop-up portable goals
- MINIROOS GAMES RULES APPLY. THERE IS NO LEAGUE TABLE.
- The focus of the MINIROOS Games is participation. Coaches are encouraged to split the squad into even teams. If numbers are low, then players can be borrowed from the opposite squad.
- As a mark of respect, players are asked to shake hands with opposition players and officials before and after the game.
- GOALS AND EQUIPMENT: The home team is to supply the pop-up goals and the match ball.
- No referees are needed, parents take on this role through guidance and advice.
- No match cards are needed.
